One-Stroke Calligraphy By Venerable Master Hsing Yun

Last July 17,2012 the International Buddhist Progress Society held a press conference at Fo Guang Shan Mabuhay Temple, the prescon is about the One-Stroke Calligraphy by Mater Hsing Yun,

What is One-Stroke Calligraphy? Who is Venerable Master Hsing Yun? What is the impact of the callgraphy in the routine of Venerable Master Hsing Yun?

Chinese Calligraphy, most of the time, is regarded as an art of expression, an art form that present the character of the artist. t requires strict discipline and control of various elements such as concentration of the link and qualities of both paper and brush to create diverse styles and forms. The Harmonization of both body and mind is essential in conveying the content of the passage. Beyond the technique and styles and forms produced in calligraphy, the intention of the artist is felt, the inner self of the artist revealed. This has bought the status  of calligraphy to the forefont, recognized as a core discipline in Chinese art that presents and paves the way for development of culture and the same time.

Venerable Master Hsing Yun is the founder of Fo Guang Shan (Buddha's Light Mountain) or FGS, one of the largest Buddhist order with close 300 branch temple worldwide. He also the leading proponent of Humanistic Buddhism, a practical and timely brand of Buddhism that emphasizes the integration of spiritual practices into everyday affairs and works for the promotion of peace and harmony among all human beings.

Despite of his physical condition he continues to express his loving-kindness through his artworks.

Venerable Master Hsing Yun may not show the perfection found in the creations of other great calligraphy masters, but they nonetheless posses great aesthetic and cultural value that stems from the wisdom and compassion of a man who has devoted his entire life in the propagation of the Dharma - the great body of Buddhist teaching - and in spreading the spirit of compassion to as many people as possible. In his own words, Venerable Master Hsing Yun said, " My calligraphy does not look great, but I am proud of my intention. Hope you can read my mind through my calligraphy."

Venerable Miao Jing the Head Abbess,FGS Phillipines

After three years the most awaited unique and rare calligraphy pieces created by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, have finally been brought to the Philippines.Especially created for the Filipino, these calligraphy pieces will be presented at the One-Stroke Calligraphy By Venerable Master Hsing Yun exhibition opening on July 28.2012 at Fo Guang Shan Mabuhay Temple.

Im so happy because I learn the deeper meaning of the One-Stroke Calligraphy By Venerable Master Hsing Yun thru the help of the Venerable Miao Jing the Head Abbess,FGS Phillipines, aside from that we experience the proper way to write the Sutra Calligraphy by Ven. Maio Way.

The Original Savory - Escolta

Although there are many Savory outlets around, nothing beats the original in Escolta. I strongly believe that they have better and larger serving than the ones in malls.

Pancake House since 1974

One of the best places to find pancakes and waffles, the Pancake House.

So far I have only dined in this place twice. "Okay" was the only impression I had during my first visit. If it weren't for the the unofficial meet-and-greet of bloggers in the metro, I wouldn't have thought of dining in again. After the second, I thought of it it as nice and awesome. So...what changed? Seemingly and truly noticeable was the ambiance (don't even bother asking what branch I dined in before). My recent visit obviously overruled the unsatisfactory experience I've had. Big thanks to the Pancake House located at 1/L Cinema Alabang Town Center, Alabang Zapote Rd. And because the meet-and-greet event wouldn't have been more interesting without the place where it was held, it sparked my interest to get to know how Pancake House started.

Being inquisitive and all, I asked the waiter and verified what he said based on publsihed articles the company freely made available to its customers... something most people would most likely overlook when giving out their orders -- the menu. The first line reads "It all began in the 70's, the decadent years when bell bottoms and platform shoes dominated the stress and blaring discos ruled the nights."

Definitely interesting. Check out some of the foods we had at Pancake House.

 Halo-Halo Jubilee
Php74 for the regular-size; Php89 with ice-cream; Php50 for the mini and Php63 for the mini size with ice-cream
(i choose the regular halo-halo)

Experience the Kroketten Potato Dutch Snacks with a Pinoy Twist

Last June 23, I was invited in the KROKETTEN Bloggers event at Mall of Asia.

Its for the opening of the new branch of Kroketten.

What is Kroketten?  Is made of breaded mashed potato balls with meat, chicken or cheese filling.

How Kroketten started? Kroketten is the brainchild of Maribel Bosch,as an entrepreneur, married to a Dutch Chemist, Dr. Bob Bosch. This business was inspired by a popular Dutch snack (croquette), she first tasted in 2000 while in the Netherlands with her two wonderful kids. She has learned to love the food and constant visit back to the Philippines meant bringing home boxes of Kroketten as "pasalubong" and experimenting with cooking them herself till she got the right mix.

Finally, in 2010, when she met a chef-friend from her days in the Philippines hotel industry, they were able to come up with their best Kroketten concoction with a Filipino twist.
From this secret formula, a new business was born.

The first Kroketten outlet was launch in Festival Alabang.

They came up with miniballs as well in assorted flavors. You get to choose from mango, cheese, chicken, beef, bacon, hotdog, longganisa, pork adobo, and tuyo flakes to suit your cravings for the day and choose from any of the tasty dip options like cheese dip or honey-mustard dip.

Here's photo coverage
